A Beautiful Midwife Supported Birth at New Hanover Regional Medical Center

Birth

I think birth teaches us to step out of black and white and embrace the gray. To learn that there is strength in vulnerability and the miraculous in our everyday. Best case scenario, we go with the flow: doing our normal routines until the intensity lets us know it’s time to go to “labor land,” leaning on physical and emotional support when it starts to feel impossible, then finally reaping our reward in the most sweet feeling of new life. This labor progressed so beautifully and naturally from sweet quiet moments at home with family and big sister to more intensity and comfort measures, to powering through an incredible unmedicated delivery at the hospital.

This mama and her rockstar support team (Wilmington Doula Services, Jillian Bretz, our hospital midwives) did a beautiful job of meeting the process with what it needed at each point: quiet moments at home, a snack, a stroll outside, a bath, a hand to hold, a kind word, a few tears, and above all unconditional love and support all the way around. It was a dream to be a part of this team and this day, and as always an honor to witness a family grow.

I’m currently booking births for 2019, if you have considered having yours documented please reach out with any questions you may have at 910-557-2770 (feel free to just shoot me a text!). I’m always up for a coffee date 🙂
